A strong message of unity, responsibility, and forward-thinking leadership resonated through the Igara Royal Palace on April 4, 2026, as the National Chairman of the 40th Opoze Age Grade, Mr. Peter Apologun, rallied stakeholders to embrace commitment and decisive action for the progress of Igarra Kingdom.

Speaking at the Igarra Annual National Conference organized by the Ariwo-Ovejijo Descendants Forum, Apologun paid glowing tribute to the Otaru of Igarra, His Royal Highness, Oba E.A. Saiki II, describing his reign as a symbol of wisdom, dignity, and unity.

“Your throne is not only a symbol of power but also a source of inspiration and guidance,” he said, praising the monarch’s role in fostering stability and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Igarra people both at home and in the diaspora.

Addressing an audience of elders, palace chiefs, traditional title holders, and community leaders, the Opoze Chairman spoke with a sense of urgency and purpose, emphasizing that the time had come for the community to move beyond rhetoric to tangible results.

Delivering his address under the theme “Commitment, Launch, and Action,” Apologun highlighted the importance of reviewing past resolutions while setting a clear agenda for the future. He noted that key decisions taken at the 2025 conference were aimed at strengthening unity, preserving culture, and driving development across Igarra land.

Among the resolutions revisited was the proposal to rename the gathering as the Igara National Conference to reflect broader community representation, alongside plans to shift the conference period to Easter for greater participation. He also underscored the need to resolve persistent land disputes through structured community mechanisms, stressing that peace remains fundamental to development.

Apologun further reaffirmed the cultural significance of the Ubete Festival, recognized as Igarra Day, describing it as a powerful symbol of unity and identity. He also pointed to ongoing efforts to establish a standing committee dedicated to advancing the Permanent Royal Palace project—an initiative seen as central to preserving the kingdom’s heritage.

“These resolutions remain central to our progress and form the basis of today’s deliberations,” he stated, urging all stakeholders to take ownership of the decisions and ensure their full implementation.

The address struck a chord among attendees, reinforcing a shared vision of a united and progressive Igara Kingdom. With renewed commitment from its people and leadership, the conference marked another significant step toward consolidating cultural pride and driving sustainable development in the community.
