JUST IN: Igarra 2026: Descendants Unite to Defend Heritage and Shape the Future
By OGB Joseph
In a bold affirmation of unity, identity, and cultural preservation, the Ariwo-Ovejijo Descendants Forum (AODF) has called on sons and daughters of Igarra Kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally together in defence of their shared royal heritage.
This call formed the centrepiece of the President’s address at the 2026 Igarra Annual National Conference, a gathering that has steadily evolved into a defining platform for reflection, cultural renewal, and collective action among members of the Ariwo-Ovejijo royal lineage.
Addressing His Royal Majesty, Oba E.A. Saiki II (JP), the Otaru of Igarra Kingdom, alongside an assembly of princes, elders, and stakeholders, the President of the Forum, Engr. Femi Amuku (MNSE), underscored the importance of safeguarding the legacy handed down through generations.
“This gathering is not merely ceremonial,” he stated. “It is a strategic convergence—a platform for unity, reflection, and decisive action towards protecting and consolidating our God-given royal heritage.”
The Ariwo-Ovejijo Descendants Forum, a legally recognized body registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), represents a structured coalition of princes drawn from the five ruling families of the Igarra Kingdom—Anede, Eshinagada, Ehinogua, Eshinavaka, and Andiba. Through its Board of Trustees, the Forum ensures inclusiveness, equity, and a shared sense of responsibility in managing the affairs of the royal lineage.
Founded in response to both historical and contemporary challenges confronting the traditional institution, the AODF has grown into a formidable platform for coordination, advocacy, and cultural promotion. Its membership spans continents, bringing together senior princes, emerging leaders, professionals, and diaspora stakeholders united by a common ancestral bond.
Engr. Amuku emphasized that the Forum’s strength lies in its unity, discipline, and shared vision. Under its current leadership, the organization has witnessed renewed energy, increased participation, and impactful engagement across its structures.
“Our presence here today is a testament to our collective commitment—not only to our ancestry but also to the future of Igarra Kingdom,” he noted.
Beyond preserving tradition, the Forum has recorded measurable progress in advancing the development of the kingdom. From strengthening institutional cohesion to promoting cultural awareness, the AODF continues to position itself as a vital force in shaping the trajectory of Igarra’s royal heritage in a rapidly changing world.
As the conference unfolds, one message resonates clearly: the preservation of heritage is not a passive duty but an active responsibility—one that demands unity, foresight, and unwavering dedication from every descendant of the land.
