Governor Mai Mala Buni has assured the people of his senatorial district of quality representation in the National Assembly, declaring that his record in public service speaks for itself as he prepares for a new political journey to the Senate.

Addressing journalists shortly after his screening by the All Progressives Congress, APC, Buni described the exercise as transparent, thorough, and satisfactory, expressing confidence in the internal democratic processes of the ruling party.

“It’s very fair and thorough. It is okay. It has gone very well and I’m happy with it,” the governor said shortly after the screening.

On the growing debate over consensus arrangements and possible political alignments within his senatorial district, Buni maintained a flexible stance, insisting that he remains committed to the party’s decisions and democratic principles.

“Well, whichever way, because I’m a party man and I’m used to it, and that’s the beauty of democracy. I’m open to all options,” he stated.

The Yobe governor, who has held several strategic positions both within the party and in government, said his transition from the Government House to the Senate would be driven by a determination to sustain the same level of performance and commitment that has defined his political career.

Asked what constituents should expect from him if elected senator, Buni gave a straightforward response: “Performance.”

“Since I have put myself forward to represent them, of course I have to represent them well. I’ve never been found wanting in all the positions that I occupied, from the party to government. So this too will not be different,” he added.

Buni’s comments come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with several governors and top political figures seeking legislative positions as part of broader realignments within the APC.

His remarks are also likely to strengthen confidence among supporters who see his administrative experience and party leadership background as major assets in the race for the Senate.
