Professor Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, SAN, an aspirant for the Nasarawa West Senatorial District seat, has declared that his decades of experience in law, governance, and party administration have adequately prepared him for effective representation in the Senate.

Speaking during an interview with newsmen on his ambition, Kana said his decision to seek election into the National Assembly was driven by a desire to deploy his vast experience toward addressing the challenges confronting the people of Nasarawa West.

The senior lawyer noted that over the years, he had served in several strategic positions, including Commissioner, Attorney General, National Legal Adviser, and National Secretary of his party, while also spending 25 years teaching law and another 25 years in legal practice.

According to him, leadership goes beyond academic qualifications and certificates, stressing that practical experience and service to the people are critical ingredients for effective representation.

“I have been a lawyer, a commissioner, and an Attorney General. I have also served as a party chieftain, as the National Legal Adviser of the party and as National Secretary. I have taught law for 25 years and practiced law for another 25 years,” he said.

Kana described himself as a committed national figure who has acquired the necessary exposure and competence required for legislative responsibilities in the Senate.

He said his campaign is centred on issues affecting the people of Nasarawa West and on identifying practical solutions through effective legislative engagement.

“My campaign is focused purely on issues, identifying the problems facing our people and understanding the responsibility of the Senate in addressing and resolving those challenges for the people of Nasarawa West,” he stated.

The senatorial aspirant further said that his life’s experiences and career trajectory appeared divinely arranged to prepare him for the task ahead.

“By divine providence, even without deliberately targeting this role, I find that my life’s journey has prepared me for where I am today,” he added.

Addressing his supporters, Kana urged them to remain steadfast and focused ahead of the party primary scheduled for the 18th, dismissing ongoing political speculations as mere distractions.

“The election has not yet taken place. The primary election is scheduled for the 18th. Much of the noise we hear now is just that noise,” he said.

He called on his supporters to sustain the same level of commitment, passion, and loyalty they had demonstrated throughout the campaign, expressing confidence in victory at the polls.

“I encourage them to maintain the same energy, passion, and dedication they have shown throughout this campaign on that day. I am confident that we will not only be protected but will also succeed,” Kana stated.

Professor Kana formally reaffirmed his aspiration to represent Nasarawa West Senatorial District in the Senate, pledging issue-based and people-oriented representation if elected.
