JUST IN: 2027: “Plateau People Are Waiting for Me” — Yilchini Jan Bida Declares Confidence After APC Screening

A retired military officer and governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Commander Yilchini Jan Bida (Rtd), has expressed strong confidence in emerging as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Plateau State, declaring that the people of the state are already rallying behind his ambition.

 

 

 

Speaking with newsmen shortly after successfully undergoing the APC screening process, Bida described the exercise as transparent and democratic, praising the ruling party for creating what he called “a level playing ground” for all aspirants.

 

 

According to him, the APC has demonstrated commitment to internal democracy by allowing party members and the people to determine who eventually flies the party’s flag.

 

 

“The process went well. It shows that APC is a party that believes in internal democracy. They want to create an open field and a level playing ground for anybody who feels he has something to offer his state to participate in the election,” he said.

 

 

The governorship hopeful said he was optimistic that the party would adopt direct primaries, insisting that such a process would reflect the true will of party members across Plateau State.

 

 

“I am very confident that there is going to be a direct primary. They have handed over the power to the people to decide who becomes the governor. Plateau people are behind me. They are waiting for me to return home,” he stated.

 

 

Bida further projected confidence in his political future, expressing hope that he would eventually be sworn in as governor on May 29, 2027.

 

 

The retired commander also pointed to the growing excitement among supporters as evidence of his popularity and acceptance across the state.

 

 

“When I picked up my forms, the people of Plateau were celebrating and jubilating because they know my capability. When I submitted my forms, they celebrated it again. And I can assure you that this evening there will be more celebration in Plateau because I have just been screened successfully,” he added.

 

 

He maintained that the enthusiasm surrounding his aspiration reflects the desire of Plateau people for a new direction in governance, promising that victory at the primaries would usher in a fresh phase of leadership for the state.

 

 

Commander Bida reiterated by expressing optimism that both he and his supporters would celebrate victory once the APC primary process is concluded.
