JUST IN: Ikwuano Mayor Hails Sam Onuigbo’s Emergence as GLOBE President, Says Community Earns Global Recognition

The Executive Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Dr. Anthony N. Nwaubani, has congratulated former federal lawmaker, Sam Onuigbo, on his formal inauguration as President of GLOBE Legislators at the United Kingdom Parliament.
In a congratulatory message, Nwaubani described Onuigbo’s emergence as a landmark achievement, saying it has once again projected the name of Ikwuano and its people onto the global stage for a noble cause.
According to the Executive Mayor, the inauguration represents a moment of pride not only for Onuigbo but also for the entire people of Ikwuano, noting that the international recognition reflects the community’s growing contributions to global leadership and sustainable development.
“It is a big and good one for all of us Ndi Ikwuano,” Nwaubani stated, adding that Onuigbo’s elevation to the leadership of GLOBE International is a significant milestone worthy of celebration.
He noted that GLOBE Legislators is a respected non-partisan and cross-party parliamentary organisation founded in 1991 by prominent lawmakers, including former United States Vice President Al Gore and former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, alongside parliamentary counterparts from Europe, Russia and Japan.
According to Nwaubani, the organisation is committed to strengthening governance and promoting sustainable development through legislative engagement across the world.
The Executive Mayor expressed confidence that Onuigbo’s leadership would further advance GLOBE’s global mission while enhancing Nigeria’s and Ikwuano’s visibility in international climate governance and sustainable development advocacy.
