JUST IN: 2027 Reps Race: Okpameri Nation Mobilises for Unity, Pushes for Equitable Representation in Akoko-Edo

Stakeholders from Akoko-Edo North under the platform of the Okpameri Nation have launched a campaign for political unity and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the area’s numerical strength should translate into equitable representation in the House of Representatives.

 

 

The stakeholders, in a statement issued from the Okpameri Headquarters in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area,  signed by its National Coordinator, Engr. Alabi Gaius Ebumada called on political leaders, traditional institutions, youth and women groups, and community stakeholders to close ranks and work towards presenting a united front in the contest for the Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency seat.

 

 

According to the statement, the time has come for the Okpameri Nation to consolidate its voting strength and pursue what it described as its legitimate aspiration for fair political representation.

 

 

The group argued that electoral victory is determined by organisation, discipline, strategic collaboration and the ability of a people to unite behind a common vision rather than by personal interests or internal rivalry.

 

 

 

It noted that Akoko-Edo North possesses a significant voting population capable of influencing the outcome of the 2027 election if united behind a credible candidate from the Okpameri Nation.

 

 

 

“Politics is ultimately a game of numbers, built on unity, discipline and strategic cooperation—not division, personal interests or internal rivalry,” the statement said.

 

 

 

The stakeholders maintained that if the region’s numerical advantage is effectively harnessed with a common purpose, it would not only improve its chances at the polls but also mark a historic turning point in the political evolution of the Okpameri people.

 

 

 

 

They described the 2027 election as a rare opportunity to establish a lasting legacy by ensuring that the Okpameri Nation is no longer overlooked or marginalised in the political affairs of Akoko-Edo.

 

 

 

“Our numbers must translate into leadership, our unity into influence, and our participation into equitable representation,” the statement added.

 

 

 

The group, however, stressed that the objective could only be achieved through sacrifice, maturity and commitment to the collective interest above personal ambition.

 

 

 

It urged political actors, opinion leaders and community influencers to avoid actions capable of creating unnecessary divisions within the Okpameri Nation, warning that disunity could undermine the region’s political prospects.

 

 

 

The stakeholders also called on socio-political organisations, traditional rulers, youth groups, women associations and community leaders across Akoko-Edo North to immediately commence grassroots voter education, strategic mobilisation and consensus-building ahead of the 2027 general elections.

 

 

 

They emphasised that the campaign for equitable representation was not directed against any other community within the constituency but was a legitimate democratic quest anchored on fairness, justice, inclusion and equal opportunity for every section of Akoko-Edo to produce leadership.

 

 

 

The statement concluded with a call for sustained unity and preparedness, declaring that history favours people who are organised and united in pursuit of a common political goal.
