JUST IN: NDYN Unveils Project 2026 to Produce 1,000 Niger Delta Youth CEOs

The Niger Delta Youth Network (NDYN) has unveiled an ambitious youth empowerment initiative aimed at identifying, training and mentoring 1,000 young entrepreneurs from the Niger Delta into business owners and job creators.

 

 

 

The initiative, known as NDYN Project 2026, was unveiled in Abuja on Wednesday as part of activities marking the 2026 International Youth Day.

 

 

 

Speaking on behalf of the organisation, its National President, Comrade Scott Ogunseri, said the project was designed to equip young people with the skills, mentorship and resources required to establish sustainable businesses and contribute meaningfully to the economic development of the Niger Delta.

 

 

 

Ogunseri also commended Tantita Security Services, the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Federal Government, Niger Delta state governors, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders for their contributions to youth and student empowerment in the region.

 

 

 

He, however, urged the various stakeholders to do more, stressing that the challenges confronting young people in the Niger Delta remained significant.

 

 

 

 

According to him, greater investment is needed in skills development, entrepreneurship, mentorship, education and access to sustainable livelihoods.

 

 

 

“Today, here in Abuja, the Niger Delta Youth Network officially unveils NDYN Project 2026—an ambitious initiative to build 1,000 Niger Delta youth CEOs from the scratch,” Ogunseri said.

 

 

 

He explained that the project would focus on identifying promising young people, equipping them with relevant skills, providing mentorship and empowering them to build businesses and create employment opportunities.

 

 

 

The NDYN president consequently called on Tantita, REA, PAP, NDDC, governments at all levels, private organisations, philanthropists, development partners and well-meaning sons and daughters of the Niger Delta to support and partner with the initiative.

 

 

 

He said collaboration among government agencies, private organisations and youth-focused groups was essential to achieving sustainable economic empowerment in the region.

 

 

 

Ogunseri said the initiative was premised on the belief that investment in young people represents an investment in the future prosperity and stability of the Niger Delta.

 

 

 

“Our message is clear: Niger Delta youths are not just leaders of tomorrow. We are partners in development and leaders of today,” he said.

 

 

 

He urged stakeholders to support programmes that would enable young people to become economically independent, employers of labour and active participants in the development of their communities.

 

 

 

The NDYN president said the organisation remained committed to its vision of connecting young people with opportunities, empowering them with relevant resources and transforming the socio-economic fortunes of the Niger Delta.

 

 

 

He described the Project 2026 initiative as an opportunity to move youth empowerment beyond rhetoric and towards practical interventions capable of producing measurable economic outcomes.

 

The organisation concluded its International Youth Day message with a call for collective action under the theme: “Connect, Empower and Transform the Niger Delta.”
