By OGB Joseph, Abuja
The Edo State Government has intensified efforts to secure increased educational support for its tertiary institutions through a strategic engagement with the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund.
The move followed a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, Muntari Dandutse, by the Edo State Special Adviser on Student Affairs and Mobilisation, acting on the directive of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The meeting centred on deepening collaboration between the Edo State Government and the Senate Committee to expand educational opportunities, improve institutional development, enhance access to TETFund interventions and promote initiatives aimed at strengthening tertiary education across the state.
Speaking after the meeting, the governor’s aide said the visit underscored the Okpebholo administration’s commitment to forging strategic partnerships that would improve the quality of education and accelerate sustainable development in Edo State.
According to the aide, Governor Okpebholo conveyed his goodwill and reaffirmed his administration’s determination to work closely with relevant federal institutions to ensure Edo students and tertiary institutions benefit from available educational interventions.
The discussions also focused on improving access to TETFund-supported infrastructure, academic development programmes and other initiatives designed to enhance learning outcomes and strengthen higher education institutions in the state.
The Special Adviser commended Senator Dandutse for his warm reception, constructive engagement and expressed willingness to support initiatives that would positively impact students and educational institutions in Edo State.
He noted that the state government remains committed to ensuring that students have access to quality education, improved learning infrastructure and opportunities that will equip them with the skills needed for future success.
The engagement forms part of the Okpebholo administration’s broader strategy to leverage partnerships with federal institutions and stakeholders to drive educational reforms and human capital development.
The Edo State Government maintained that education remains the bedrock of sustainable development, stressing that stronger collaboration with key institutions such as the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund would deliver lasting benefits for students and the overall development of the state.
