AIGUOBASINMWIN Movement World-Wide has commended the Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, for facilitating the participation of agencies and parastatals under his ministry at the launch of the N100 billion Trust Development Fund of the University of Benin.
In a statement dated July 4, 2026, and signed by its President, Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture; Secretary General, Mr. Osayuki-Osa Benson; and Diaspora Coordinator, Mr. Monday Ohuimumwen, JP, the group described the minister’s intervention as a major boost to the university’s quest for infrastructural development.
According to the organisation, the presence of the leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission, including its Chairman and Managing Director, alongside representatives of other regional development institutions, underscored the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the university’s development aspirations.
The movement particularly praised Momoh for what it described as his commitment to driving infrastructural renewal through the NDDC, especially the pledge to construct a modern students’ hostel and road infrastructure within the University of Benin.
It noted that the commitment, announced during the unveiling of the N100 billion Trust Development Fund, has renewed hope among alumni and stakeholders that the institution’s longstanding infrastructure challenges would receive urgent attention.
“AIGUOBASINMWIN Movement World-Wide believes that with this partnership between UNIBEN and the Ministry of Regional Development, our great institution will attain greater heights,” the statement said.
The group further lauded the minister for what it called his leadership in promoting sustainable infrastructure development, expressing optimism that the collaboration between the Ministry of Regional Development and the University of Benin would significantly enhance the institution’s learning environment and contribute to its long-term growth.
