JUST IN: Adamawa 2027: Mustafa Salihu Promises Continuity, Unity as Governorship Race Intensifies
By OGB Joseph, Abuja
Immediate past APC National Vice Chairman (North-East), Mustapha Salihu, has formally declared his ambition to contest for the governorship of Adamawa State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence that preparation, opportunity, and public support would secure him the party’s ticket.
Speaking after declaring his interest, Salihu described politics as a game of strategy and opportunity, saying he remains optimistic about emerging victorious in the APC governorship contest.
“In politics, it is not about being sure or not being sure. It is a game of luck, and luck is when preparation meets opportunity. I am prepared, and I have the opportunity to run, so by the grace of God, luck is on my side,” he said.
The APC chieftain stated that he and his supporters are ready for any mode of primary election the party adopts, whether direct primaries or consensus arrangement.
“We prepare for both direct primaries and consensus. We are ready,” he declared.
On what his administration would offer Adamawa people if elected governor, Salihu promised continuity of ongoing developmental projects initiated by the current administration, noting that many landmark projects require long-term commitment to achieve meaningful results.
“Our governor has done wonderfully well in transforming Adamawa State over the last seven years. Some projects are legacy projects that can take 15 to 20 years to complete. We are going to continue and ensure they are achieved,” he stated.
He also pledged to promote unity across ethnic and religious lines, stressing that social harmony remains critical to accelerated development in the state.
“We are going to broaden unity between tribes and religions to ensure that we work as one people because without unity, progress becomes slow,” he added.
Reacting to possible opposition from candidates linked to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Salihu said the APC was not intimidated by any political opponent ahead of the 2027 contest.
“We are not scared of any candidate,” he said.
