A Germany-based Nigerian politician, Chief Muritala Awolola has officially declared his intention to contest for the Kwara South Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the submission of his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms in Abuja.
Speaking shortly after submitting the forms, Awolola expressed optimism about emerging as the party’s candidate, describing his ambition as part of a broader commitment by Nigerians in the diaspora to contribute meaningfully to national development.
“I am a Nigerian in the diaspora, based in Germany, and I am contesting under the APC. By the grace of God, I believe I will secure the ticket so we can move Nigeria forward,” he stated.
Awolola said security would be his major focus if elected, stressing the need for international partnerships to strengthen Nigeria’s security framework. He revealed plans to facilitate collaboration between Nigerian security agencies and German institutions through training programmes and strategic exchanges.
“Germany has a strong policing system. I intend to encourage cooperation, training, and exchange between Nigerian security agencies and German institutions,” he said.
The APC aspirant also emphasized the importance of synergy among local vigilante groups, traditional rulers, and the Armed Forces in tackling insecurity and banditry in Kwara South and across the country.
He appealed to constituents for support, assuring them of effective representation centered on security, development, and community advancement. Awolola also reaffirmed his support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
