JUST IN: Massive Show of Strength as Abu Kefas Picks Second-Term Forms, Declares Open Contest in Taraba APC
By OGB Joseph, Abuja
A strong display of unity and political strength played out in Abuja as Senator Haruna Manu on Thursday led top stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State to obtain nomination and expression of interest forms for Governor Abu Kefas ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Senator Manu, who represents Taraba Central Senatorial District, said the large presence of party leaders at the event reflected the growing support for Governor Kefas’ second-term ambition and the determination of the APC to retain power in the state.
Speaking shortly after collecting the forms on behalf of the governor, Manu declared that virtually all critical stakeholders of the party in Taraba were united behind the governor’s re-election project.
“We are here to pick the nomination and expression of interest forms for the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Abu Kefas, for his second term by the grace of God,” he said.
“From the people you have seen, I can tell you that every critical APC stakeholder in Taraba State is here. We only informed some of them about an hour ago, and I am sure the crowd will be bigger by the time we return the forms on Monday.”
The senator described the governor’s political movement as one that should be sustained beyond the 2027 elections, expressing confidence in the strength and future of the party in the state.
“I want us to see this ticket beyond 2027, Inshallahu,” he added.
Manu also introduced other prominent party leaders present at the exercise, including Senator Shaibu Isalahu, Senator Jim Kuta representing Taraba South, as well as members of the State House of Assembly leadership and other aspirants seeking various elective positions.
On the issue of whether the Taraba APC would adopt a consensus arrangement for the primaries, the senator said Governor Kefas had maintained an open-door position that allows all interested aspirants to test their popularity if consensus fails.
“We hope for consensus. But where consensus is not possible, the governor has urged that everybody is free to go and obtain the form,” he stated.
