JUST IN: Edo 2024: Igbinedion congratulates Ighodalo

A former lawmaker in the House of Representatives from Ovia Federal Constituency who was aspirant for the Edo State Governorship election, Barr. Omosede Igbinedion has congratulated Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for the September 21st, 2024 Governorship election promising to mobilize her supporters to vote for the party’s candidate.

Igbinedion made this promise shortly after the presentation of certificate of return to Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the party’s candidate at the PDP’s National secretariat in Abuja noting that despite what happened and transpired, she believes the party’s candidate will win the election because of his antecedents.

She disclose that she is ready to work for the party’s candidate because since the process has been final she has no choice than to ensure he emerged victorious in the contest saying he deserved to win. She said Dr. Ighodalo is Edo State candidate not Esan candidate.

She said: ” The process is being finalised. It is the second hurdle which is is the collection of the certificate of return by our own candidate of the PDP Dr Asue Ighodalo.

” We are ready to go. We have our candidate now. There is no reason certainly why the PDP will not win the Edo State election”, she stated.

On how she feels stepping down for the candidate of the party, Igbinedion state: ” Well, I am grateful to God. I am ready to work for the candidate of the party so that he can emerge the winner in the election in Edo State

” We have to get it right. Nigeria is in dire need of good leadership at this point in time. I believed that the people of Edo state like the rest of Nigerians are finding it very hard in this very trying time.

” We need the right person like Dr Asue Ighodalo who had emerged to lead us in Edo stste. I contested in the last election but like I said, for equity, fairness and justice, I considered and decided to support Dr. Asue Ighodalo.

” Doing so, I must say it is not just the Esan candidate bit Edo candidate. And that is very sacrosanct. So, I wish him the very best. We are all going to work very hard with all efforts we can, with what has happened and transpired already.

 ” There are alot of other persons that have been calling that they want to join the Asue Ighodalo team. So many of my supporters are willing to do so as well. I was able to give the PDP one of the best result in the last election in the national assembly.

” I will do it again. Interestingly, I will work very hard beside Asue Ighodalo to make sure he get it right. Because the devision we are going to take as Edo stare is going to affect us for the next four years. And that is indeed very important”, she noted.

Barr. Omosede Igbinedion needs no introduction to political dynamics in Edo State. She is the scion of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin and has served in the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2019. Barr. Igbinedion has remained a strong member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State.
