JUST IN: Okpebholo Committed to Student Welfare, Education Reform, Says Aide

The Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Student Affairs and Mobilisation, Hon. Victor Ureshemi Akande, has reaffirmed Governor ‘s commitment to improving student welfare and strengthening the education sector through sustained investments and inclusive policies.
Akande gave the assurance on Wednesday during a meeting with the Students’ Union Government (SUG) President of Edo State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Comrade Agbongiasede Eghosasere, at his office.
According to the governor’s aide, the meeting focused on issues affecting student welfare, campus development and the challenges confronting students, with both parties exploring ways to promote a more conducive learning environment across tertiary institutions in the state.
He said Governor Okpebholo remained passionate about the advancement of education and had continued to prioritise initiatives that would expand access to quality learning opportunities for Edo students.
Akande noted that the administration was supporting programmes such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing the scheme as a critical intervention that has widened access to higher education for eligible Nigerian students.
He added that Edo students were fortunate to have a governor who was committed to implementing policies that would strengthen the educational system, create more opportunities for young people and secure a brighter future for the state’s student population.
The Special Adviser also reiterated his commitment to maintaining regular engagement with student leaders, listening to their concerns and ensuring that their voices are reflected in government policies and programmes.
He stressed that collaboration between the government and student representatives would remain essential to building a more inclusive, progressive and student-friendly Edo State.
