JUST IN: OVIA NORTH-EAST KILLINGS: Iduoriyekemwen Condemns Attack, Demands Urgent Action on Insecurity
By OGB Joseph, Abuja
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Edo South Senatorial District, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, has expressed deep sadness and concern over the reported killing of innocent residents in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State in the early hours of Friday.
Reacting to the tragic incident in a post on his Facebook page, Iduoriyekemwen described the attack as painful, condemnable and a disturbing indication of the worsening security situation confronting communities across the state.
According to him, it is unacceptable that citizens can no longer sleep peacefully in their homes without the fear of violent attacks and loss of lives.
“The protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government, and our people deserve urgent and decisive action,” he stated.
The ADC senatorial candidate questioned the continued loss of innocent lives despite repeated calls for stronger security measures, asking: “How many more lives must be lost before stronger measures are taken to secure our communities?”
He called on security agencies and relevant authorities to launch an immediate investigation into the killings, apprehend those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice.
Iduoriyekemwen also urged the government and security operatives to strengthen surveillance and security operations across Edo State to prevent further bloodshed and restore public confidence.
He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Ovia North-East, assuring them that their pain is shared by all who seek a safer and more secure society.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the affected families and the entire Ovia North-East community in this difficult moment. We must not remain silent while innocent lives continue to be lost,” he said.
The latest attack has once again heightened concerns over insecurity in parts of Edo State, with residents calling for urgent and sustained measures to protect lives and communities from further violence.
