JUST IN: President Tinubu Delivering Massive Development Projects Across Northern Nigeria says Renewed Hope Ambassadors
By OGB Joseph, Abuja
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has fulfilled key promises made to Northern Nigeria through the execution of major infrastructural and development projects across the region.
The group made the declaration after concluding a media tour of ongoing Federal Government projects in the Northwest geopolitical zone alongside the Presidential Media Team. The inspection tour covered parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa and Kebbi states.
In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the group, Tunde Rahman, the ambassadors dismissed claims in some quarters that the Tinubu administration had neglected the North, insisting that evidence on ground showed otherwise.
According to the group, the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda initiated 260 Special Intervention Projects nationwide through the Federal Ministry of Works, with 48 of the projects located in the Northwest states of Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara.
The RHA described the figure as the highest allocation among the country’s six geopolitical zones, adding that the projects are expected to improve transportation, stimulate trade and agriculture, and accelerate economic growth in the region.
During the tour, the delegation inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway. The project features 20-centimetre concrete pavement and solar-powered streetlights. The 82-kilometre Section One of the road, being handled by Infiouest International Construction Company, stretching from Zuba Junction to beyond Jere, was said to be nearing completion, with only about 300 metres left unfinished.
The group also visited the Kaduna Western Bypass project, a 21-kilometre dual carriageway that had reportedly been abandoned for more than two decades. According to the delegation, the project has now attained about 50 per cent completion with funding fully secured.
Another major project inspected was the Kaduna-Kano-Katsina-Maradi railway line linking Northern Nigeria to neighbouring Niger Republic. The RHA described the rail project as one of the administration’s most iconic infrastructure initiatives, expected to enhance transportation, trade and agricultural activities across the region.
In Kaduna, work was also ongoing on the flyover bridge connected to the trans-Sahara rail line, with completion expected by December 2026.
At the Kano axis of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway, the delegation observed that construction had reached about 95 per cent completion.
The team further inspected several ongoing projects at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, including a Cardiovascular Centre, a Pediatric Centre and a students’ hostel project linked to the constituency initiatives of Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau.
Other projects visited in Kano included a N27 billion irrigation project in Garko funded through the Ecological Fund Office, a solar energy project by the Energy Commission of Nigeria, and a 10-hectare Agricultural Incubation Centre developed by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure at Bayero University Kano to promote modern agricultural solutions.
The delegation also toured the headquarters of the North West Development Commission located along Murtala Mohammed Way in Kano. The commission is one of the regional development agencies recently established by the Tinubu administration.
In addition, the group inspected the N47 billion Wujuwuju-Jakara erosion and gully control project in Kano, which was initially started by the Kano State Government before being taken over by the Federal Government.
In Jigawa State, the delegation reported that work on the state’s section of the Kaduna-Kano-Katsina-Maradi railway project was almost completed.
Similarly, construction work on the Kebbi section of the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway was said to be progressing steadily. According to the RHA, site clearance, filling works, stone base and sub-surface works had advanced considerably, while concrete pavement construction and streetlight installation had already covered about 19 kilometres.
The group said completion levels for Sections 2A and 2B of the highway project currently stand at 40 per cent and 16 per cent respectively.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors maintained that the scale of ongoing projects across Northern Nigeria demonstrates the Tinubu administration’s commitment to regional development.
The group added that critics alleging marginalisation of the North should undertake independent assessments of the projects, insisting that claims of neglect were largely politically motivated ahead of the 2027 general elections.
