A frontline aspirant for the Enugu West Senatorial District seat, Francis Mountainfly Onuzuruike, has formally withdrawn from the race, citing the need to preserve unity, stability, and cohesion within the party and the state.

Speaking during a press conference, the cleric and political leader said his decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders across Enugu West, as well as discussions with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whom he described as the leader of the party in the state.

Onuzuruike noted that his senatorial ambition was driven by a genuine desire to serve the people of Enugu West and provide purposeful representation at the National Assembly.

According to him, the aspiration also gave rise to the growth of the MSG Movement, which he described as a strong grassroots platform built on unity, vision, and commitment to the development of the district.

“Through the platform of the MSG Movement, we built a strong and vibrant grassroots network both at home and in the diaspora,” he said.

He explained that after “deep reflection and prayerful consideration,” he chose to step down from the contest in deference to the counsel of Governor Mbah and in the overriding interest of party harmony.

“This decision was not taken lightly. True leadership is not only about contesting for positions but also about making sacrifices for the greater good,” he stated.

The former aspirant stressed that unity and peace must take priority over personal ambition, especially at a critical stage in the state’s development.

“Our collective focus must remain on sustaining the ongoing transformation agenda and ensuring that peace, progress, and stability continue to define Enugu State,” he added.

Onuzuruike expressed gratitude to members of the MSG Movement, youth groups, women associations, community leaders, and supporters across the senatorial district for their loyalty and unwavering support throughout his political journey.

He assured his supporters that his withdrawal from the race would not end his commitment to public service and community development.

“Stepping down from this race does not diminish my commitment to service. It strengthens my resolve to continue working for the advancement of our people,” he said.
Calling for calm and unity among his supporters, Onuzuruike urged them to continue supporting the administration of Governor Mbah and the leadership of the party in the state.

Quoting biblical passages on peace and orderliness, he maintained that his decision was guided by principles of sacrifice, unity, and purposeful leadership.
