JUST IN: 2027: Bankole-Balogun Submits Nomination, Expression of Interest Forms For Akoko-Edo Reps Seat, Promises Aggressive Representation
By OGB Joseph, Abuja
Former Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission representing Edo State, Otunba Oladele Bankole-Balogun, has declared his intention to contest for the Akoko-Edo Federal House of Representatives seat, promising what he described as “aggressive and dogged representation” for the people.
Bankole-Balogun, a native of Igarra, the headquarters of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, also previously served as Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service.
Speaking shortly after submitting his nomination and expression of interest forms in an interaction with journalists and supporters, in Sheraton hotel in Abuja, the APC chieftain said his aspiration is driven by the desire to give Akoko-Edo and Nigerians a stronger voice at the National Assembly.
“When elected, my people should expect a very aggressive representation, a very dogged fighter for our rights; somebody who will stand up in the Federal House on behalf of the people of Akoko-Edo and Nigerians in general,” he said.
He added that his focus would be on speaking strongly on critical national issues capable of moving Nigeria toward stability, security, and prosperity.
“Whose voice will be heard on serious national issues that will drive Nigeria along the continuum,” he stated.
Bankole-Balogun also charged his supporters and constituents to remain committed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and rally behind both the Edo State Governor and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“My supporters and constituents should turn out en masse for the APC, for His Excellency the Executive Governor of Edo State, and also for His Excellency the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
According to him, Nigeria remains “a work in progress,” stressing that ongoing reforms and governance efforts would yield greater results with the emergence of a new parliament after the 2027 elections.
“We will be on the trajectory to a stable, much more secure and prosperous Nigeria,” he added.
The declaration has further heightened political activities in Edo North, particularly within the Akoko-Edo federal constituency, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
