Aigbe-Edo Progressive Alliance Warns Embattled Edo Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu To Stop Denigrating Prominent Benins

A group, Aigbe-Edo Progressive Alliance, APA, has warned court reinstated Edo State Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu and Senator Adams Oshiomhole to stop denigrating the names of prominent Benins under the guise of fighting Governor Godwin Obaseki over his impeachment by the State House of Assembly.

While issuing this warning in a statement signed by the President, Engr. Carl Uyiosa Otokiti, he stressed that they respect the right of the embattled Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu to exercise his rights and privileges but warned him and Mr. Adams Oshiomhole to desist forthwith from antagonizing Benin people in the most notorious tribal connotations they have been indulging in their anti-Binin rascality.

The statement read: ” We have watched with utter disdain, the anti Benin diatribes that the embattled Deputy Governor Phillip Shaibu has been unleashing on prominent Benins under the guise of venting his frustrations against Governor Godwin Obaseki over suspicion of masterminding his impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly.

” While respecting Mr. Phillip Shaibu’s rights and privileges to express his frustrations over his impeachment, we warn him and Mr. Adams Oshiomhole to desist forthwith from antagonizing Benin people in the most notorious tribal connotations they have been indulging in their anti-Binin rascality. During his stint as Governor, Adams Oshiomhole vilified the Esama of Benin, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Dr. S. O. Ogbemudia for no justifiable reason. He turned to his Deputy – Hon. Pius Egberanwen Odubu and relegated him to a native Doctor. Until the Oba of Benin fatherly cautioned him during a recent visit by the Senate President, Oshiomhole was about lampooning Governor Godwin Obaseki in the most bizarre form.of ridiculous language.

” During the gubernatorial election campaign, Adams Oshiomhole castigated Charlie Poppy and Rema – outstanding Nigerian pop music stars of Benin ancestral background, simply because they showed up at the instance of Governor Godwin Obaseki. Thereafter, Phillip Shaibu vilified Rema under the guise that he was hosted at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium to perform at a discounted gate fee.

” Phillip Shaibu gravitated therefrom to Barr. Osarodion Ogie, and attacked his person and character in a trending video interview in the most ridiculous manner, by liking him to be worse than a scorpion. We have it in good authority that a number of Benin people who are Princes and nobles have been penciled down for their anti-Binin character assassination, in a bid to paint the Uzairue people more politically credible in Tinubu’s presidential villa for more viable political appointments.

” To all Afemai people who have been laughing over this systemic assault by their fellow Afemai political heroes against the Benins, should dare not speak up, when we will commence our counter malicious campaign against these loquacious politicians.

” If Adams Oshiomhole and Phillip Shaibu think they have a monopoly of character assassination, they are better reminded that we would mobilize youths, market women, elites and the working class population to declare Oshiomhole and Shaibu as personae non granta in all parts of Edo South Senatorial District within the next one month with all articles of traditional banishment if they fail to heed wise counsel, by emulating the path of civility and decent manners of public communication. In case they don’t know, both political heroes of Afemai land are role-models to touts and street urchins.

” We hereby advise all Benin politicians whose stock in trade is the mischaracterization of their fellow politicians, for pecuniary gains to desist forthwith from it, as the inaction constitute a collateral affront on the psyche of our people all over the world”, he noted.
