The All Progressives Congress, APC, National Working Committee, NWC, has sacked Gov. Hope Uzodinma as Chairman of the Edo State Governorship election Primary Committee then replace him with Gov. Bassey Otu of Cross River State as the new chairman while Alahji Rabiu Saleiman as secretary.
The move is sequel to petition submitted by former APC Edo Governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Andrew Ize-Iyamu, Lucky Imasuen and others submitted at the national secretariat of the party demanding for his sack over his mishandling of the assignment placed under his supervision.
Meanwhile a source also confirmed that Senator Hope Uzodinma had earlier said he will not come back to conduct the primary because of too many interests in the candidate who will emerge.
It will be noted that Gov. Hope Uzodinma was appointed to serve as Chairman of the 7 man Edo State Governorship Primary Election Committee but due to disruptions in the exercise, the party NWC declared the primary as incomplete thereby fixed Thursday 22nd February, 2024 as the new date to complete the primary.
A total of 12 aspirants contested for the primary only for some to step down at the eve of the election. Howrver, three aspirants emerged from the incomplete primary as winners but due to angst against the shoddy job done by the committee which has been reconstituted, the election is now scheduled to hold on the 22nd February 2024.
