In a stirring call for unity, cultural preservation, and urgent action on insecurity, the Otaru of Igarra Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Oba EA Saiki II, has charged sons and daughters of the ancient kingdom to take collective responsibility for safeguarding their heritage and future.
Delivering a welcome address at the 2026 Igara Annual Conference organized by the Ariwo-Ovejijo Descendants Forum, the revered monarch emphasized that the gathering was more than a ceremonial reunion—it was a defining moment for stakeholders to confront pressing challenges facing the community.
Addressing a cross-section of traditional leaders, age-grade groups, and distinguished indigenes, the monarch noted that rising insecurity and the erosion of cultural values pose significant threats to the identity and stability of Igarra Kingdom.
“This conference comes at a time when our communities face numerous challenges, particularly the rising concerns of insecurity and the pressing need to preserve our cultural values,” the royal father stated, urging participants to engage in meaningful dialogue and action.
He outlined three key priorities for the conference: strengthening security across the land, accelerating the completion of the Permanent Royal Palace of the Otaru of Igarra, and promoting the UBETE (Igara Day) Cultural Festival as a symbol of unity and pride.
The monarch commended the Opoze age grade and the Ariwo-Ovejijo Descendants Forum for their dedication and meticulous planning in organizing the conference, describing their efforts as exemplary leadership that reflects the spirit of responsibility among descendants of the Eziezu royal heritage.
Oba Saiki II further urged participants to move beyond discussions and mobilize resources toward tangible outcomes that will benefit both present and future generations.
