SGF Commends President Tinubu’s bold initiative in addressing railway system 
 
 
As IRWA applauds President Tinubu’s efforts in involving right of way professional in railway infrastructure development.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume has commended President Bola Tinubu for his desire to see the railway sector properly developed to offer adequate services to Nigerians across the states of the federation.
 
 
Akume who was a guest at the 2nd International Railway Conference held in Abuja Continental hotel noted that this initiative is a bold step in the right direction noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda is committed transformation of infrastructure.
 
 
Akume said: ” The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is commited to transformation of infrastructure. Economic diversification, job creation and sustainable national development.
 
 
 
 
” This is indeed a bold and visionary initiative. With the scale of this project and along side the financial support letter from the Asian Development Bank valued at 60b dollars reflect the seriousness of purpose and ambition behind this proposal.
 
 
 
 
” These project is pivotal to power generation and speed rail. Power generation and transmission, LNG infrastructure will give priority to immense opportunity for inclusive growth and national integration.
 
 
 
” As you are all aware, the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation coordinate the sectoral engagement of this nature to ensuring the project meet national significance. And diligently process to in line with our developmental priorities
 
 
 
” While the promise is huge, it is imperative that every financial and institutional requirements are properly addressed to the benefits of our country and its people”, he said.
 
 
 
The chapter Secretary of International Right of Way Association ESV IKECHUKWU NWACHUKWU stated that one of the fundamental element of railway infrastructural development is right of way acquisition.
 
 
He assured Mr president that IRWA as right of way professional group will collaborate with the federal government to ensure that project affected persons are properly taken care of.
 
 
According to him: ” I can tell you that those communities who are affected are being taken care of by the government. I am also aware that they are also be being employed into the volume of work that is going on.
 
 
 
 
” President Tinubu is doing everything possible to ensure communities who the rail track infringe of their right of way are adequately protected and compensated. Ther services are being factored into the whole arrangements.
 
 
 
” They are being made to understand that the project belongs to them. There is inclusivity is the whole project execution for the locals. They are also being made to know that the project is their own. Their buy-in is crucial for the project to succeed.
 
 
” When this projects are completed the communities will benefits alot from it. That is the essence why the government is ensuring that they are duly recognised and carried along in all the projects”, Nwachuwku noted.
