The Assistant Director, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Commission, NUPRC, Mrs Okoro Juliet Abileakorkor has urged Nigerian women to not to sit on the fence in the forthcoming 2027 general election saying it time to stand up and allow your voices to be heard.

Abileakorkor made this disclosure in a remark shortly after receiving an award by the Edo Icon Award held at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja noting that she is overwhelmed with the Award after the organisers deemed her suitable to be bestowed with such honour.

According to her: ” In this coming 2027 election, I don’t want women to stay on the fence. Like the last election, which brought in our President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I played a very big role in my estate where I lived in Lagos.

” I mobilised. I serve as a member of the election body at that point. It was not that I was elected or nominated. But I just found myself coordinating other people.

” So, I want women to come out and vote. If you know you have the capacity to take position, come out. Let your voice be heard. Everybody can not go there but support those who are going there.

” You see, this next election in 2027, it is a work over. When women rise, a lot of things happen. Without a woman, there is no nation. So i wish the All Progressives Congress, APC, well”, she stated.

Speaking further on the award, Mrs Abileakorkor who is in charge of assets and facilities in the Commission, noted that the award mean a lot to her and she is very grateful to the organisers, her husband and women of timber and caliber who have been of support to a worthy course such as this.

She said: ” This award, I am so overwhelmed to receive this award. Because it shows that whatever I do and wherever I am, people are watching.

” In fact, I didn’t even know the group, but they found me worthy of this unique honour to be given this award.

” My message to women who are in a position is that they should continue to impact people around them. Even if you think somebody is not seeing you, somebody somewhere is watching”, she stated.

Earlier, Amb Moses Ebahor President Edo Icons Award congratulate the recipient stating that her outstanding impact and performance gave her the award that they are celebrating with her today.

He said: ” What you are seeing today is as a result of hard work, commitment and dedication to task. She has proven herself. She is a woman of strong character. A goal getter. Someone who believes in making impact wherever she finds herself.

” We are proud of you. You are an embodiment of great value. Keep being the focus, unassuming and result-oriented person that you are. Edo Icon Award is committed to great work. APC and reelection our of dear President is a settled issue. We are coasting home to victory in 2027 no doubt”, he added.
