A group, Organisation of APC Youth Solidarity Network have demanded the sack and removal of Gov. Hope Uzodinma as Chairman of Edo State Gubernatorial Primary Election Committee.
Gov. Uzodinma was appointed as chairman of the 7 member committee to midwife the party primary in the state but due to disruptions, three aspirants have declared themselves as winners of the primary held on the 17th February, 2024.
Speaking to journalists during the protest at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja on Wednesday 21st, February 2024, leader of the group, Ambassador Mumuni Tajani appealed to the National chairman of the party to disband the Gov. Hope Uzodinma led committee for lack of direction after the confusion that trailed their outing in the last Saturday’s governorship primaries.
He said: We are here today to address one peculiar challenge that is bedeviling us in Edo state and APC at large. We are the family of APC. And we must call on the attention of the APC chairman and other stakeholders of the party to address this issue before it gets out of hand. Our issue is just one.
” The issue is that of the primary election that have taken place in Edo state. We are not actually contented. We don’t want Gov. Hope Uzodinma and his team to continue with the primary of this election that have taken place in Edo state.
” We want them to be dropped and changed.  Hope Uzodinma must go. And leave the credible stakeholders of APC to conduct this election for the benefit of peace and justice. We want fairness and equity in the election in Edo.
” We want the APC national chairman to step in and address this issue before it gets out of hand.  We want Hope Uzodinma to leave Edo so that they will have a new primary election in Edo State for the benefits of all.
Earlier, the National Working Committee, NWC of the party had declared the last week primary election inconclusive saying a new date of February 22nd, 2024 has been reschedule to complete the process.
The National Publicity Secretary, NPS, Felix Morka in a statement said at its emergency meeting held today, Tuesday, February 20, 2024, to consider the report on the Edo State Governorship Primary Election.
Morka said: ” The National Working Committee (NWC) deliberated on the report and resolved that the Edo State Governorship Primary Election has not been completed, and has now fixed Thursday February 22, 2024 for the completion of the Primary Election Process”.
