APC Rivers: Amaechi, Beke worked against Tinubu in 2023 Okocha reveals

All Progressives Congress (APC) NWC endorsed Caretaker Committee Chairman in Rivers State, Tony Okocha has disclosed that former Minister of Transportation, Chief Rotimi Ameachi and a member of the party, who was recently reinstated as chairman Emeka Beke worked against the emergence of President Bola Tinubu as the party’s candidate in the last general election.

Okocha made this disclosure while responding to questions at the APC media centre in Abuja over the reinstatement of Emeka Beke by Rivers state high court saying he was not surprised that the judgement came that way because the APC NWC was not joined in the suit.

It will be noted thaf the APC NWC on Thursday, after its meeting declared that the Okocha-led Caretaker Committee remained the only recognised administrative body of the party in the state.

Speaking to journalists ealier at the APC national headquarters, Okocha noted that Ameachi who was seen to be the leader of APC in Rivers state, worked against the party and supported the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

He also claimed that Beke who worked with Ameachi during that election was imposed on Rivers APC just to achieve the bidding of the former Minister to frustrate President Tinubu’s ambition as flag bearer of the party in 2023 general election.

The Rivers Caretaker Committee Chairman however frowned at Ameachi who he said never worked for the party in the last election as the leader of APC in Rivers and the South South.

According to him: “Emeka Beke was imposed on the people of APC in Rivers state. Reason why we fought. You may also recall, that at the primaries, Emeka Beke was the person who led the delegations from Rivers state to vote for Rotimi Ameachi.

“When he (Beke) said Ameachi is the leader of the party in South South, what are we talking about? A man who refused to join forces with Mr. President? A man whom the president went to after emerging as the party’s candidate and attempted a truce meeting with him and it failed?

” A man who refused to participate in presidential rally in Rivers state and never showed up? A man who aligned with Emeka Beke and their chonics against the party’s presidential candidate?

“Is it news, that Ameachi’s group together with Emeka Beke went for Atiku? Is it news? While the Wike groups in PDP aligned with us, God helped us that they were also defeated, Ameachi and his groups aligned with Atiku”, he said.
